Textured paint on paper
64 × 90 cm
Unframed
This portrait is constructed using thousands of hand-placed dots in textured paint on paper. The image develops through steady repetition and controlled layering. Each mark contributes to a gradual build of surface density and form.
The work reflects on memory as a form of resistance.
In The Memory Police by Yōko Ogawa, disappearance is normalized. Objects, experiences, and meanings are systematically erased. What remains is shaped not only by loss, but by the decision to remember. Memory becomes structure. Retention becomes defiance.
This painting engages with that idea.
The surface is built slowly and deliberately. Nothing is rushed. The process requires attention and continuity. Through repetition and presence, the image resists erasure and holds its form.
This is a one-of-a-kind original work.
